Here is a little ritual I put together to clear yourself and space of negative energy.....
Select a cleansing incense such as :
Lavendar, Sage, Bay Leave, Anise, Sandlewood Benzoin and Frankincense to name a few to burn in a censor.
Quiet your mind, breath deeply in and out, slow deep breaths. Begin to visualize the negative energy in the space, see the negative energy in your mind's eye give it a face or make it an object so you can more easily sent it on it's way. Visualization is the key to this exercise.
Face East and the light the incense - hold the censor in your hands and say "Great Spirits of the water, I ask that you cleanse this space and banish all negative energies that dwell in this place". Visualize the energy going down a drain or in a stream or lake.
Face South and say "Great power of fire, I ask that you cleanse this space and banish all negative energies that dwell in this place". Visualize waves of heat and flame coming from the censor and burning up any negative energy coming in contact with it.
Face West and say "Great spirits of the air, I ask that you cleanse this space and banish all negative energies that dwell in this place." Visualize all negative energy flying out through the windows, doors and roof.
Face North and say "Great divine power of Mother Earth, I ask that you cleanse this space and banish all negative energies that dwell in this place." Visualize all negative energies going through the floor and into the ground.
Set the censor down
Call upon Spirit...."Great Spirit creator of us all, I ask that you cleanse me and banish any negative energy in my body, I also ask that you surround me with your light and protect me from any negative energy from entering my body." Visualize being surrounded by white pure light and any negative energy leaving your body through your chakras.
So Mote It Be!!
Thank the elements and release them accordingly.
(In our tradition we call the East water and always start in the East because we are close to the ocean - I know other traditions start in different directions and call east air...it's what you are comfortable with.)
